With the company posting record sales of more than 14% in the third quater and hence exceeding Wallstreet's expectations, Hewlett-Packard has again shown the world that it deserves to be number one, a position that it has been constantly maintaining over the last few years. This enormous increase in sales is because of the high-tech laptops manufactured by the company which have been sold like hot cakes all across the world. Another reaon responsible behind the success is the terriffic presence that it enjoys in the international circuit.
Inspite of fierce competition from other renowned brands like Dell and Apple, who even reduced the costs of their computers, HP proved its mettle and retained the faith of its investors as the sales records kept tumbling throughout the quater. The company also managed to do some phenomenal business in the European and Asian markets, thus inflating the stocks to new heights.
The stocks of the company increased by 3% and went upto $45 a share, thus posting a net increase of $1.31. The company claimed that it earned a total of $2.03 billion dollars which came to 80 cents a share with the figures being way ahead of the ones which were posted in the last period. The profit enjoyed by the company has been quite impressive with the exact figures being still kept under the wraps.
The sale figures that have been made public have come out to be a staggering $28 billion which is a 10% increase in comparison to last year's results. Analysts have predicted that the sales would be more as to what has happened in the third quater.
Season 2 of Big Boss goes on air
Monday August 18, 2008
With a lot of hype surrounding the event, the second season of Big Boss finally commenced with a bang as the glamorous Shilpa Shetty in a sari which almost had no front and back came out to host the show. The producers of the show have made sure that there is no shortage of glamour by roping in Shilpa as the host. The show is considered to test the patience of all the participants and has the reputation of turning the best of friends into foes.
Now for all those who start thinking of Shilpa as a poor host, let me remind you that Shilpa Shetty has won the last season of Big brother. Big Brother is the international version of Big Boss. Shilpa had come out victorious inspite of being subjected to a lot of racial slurs, especially from Jade Goody who became very infamous courtesy her objectionable behavior. Now the surprise element in Big Boss 2 is that Jade Goody has entered the show as a participant and will be in the house along with 13 other contestants. I wonder whether all the other inmates will treat Goody the same way she treated Shilpa and whether she will be able to overcome the language barrier.
The participants have been roped in basically from the entertainment industry with a couple of them being exceptions. The show promises to bring out the most vicious side out of every individual with every person talking trash about the other behind his back. Now it is for the people to see the show and decide whether it lives upto the expectations created by its predecessor. So keep watching the show as you would not really want to miss out on all the action!!!
